Abstract

Voix et Images de France ("Voices and Images of France") method is the first course elaborated according to the principles of the structural-global-audio-visual method. A first variant of this pedagogical approach was published in 1958. The method was then republished in 1961 and 1971. In Voix et Images de France the teaching/learning of a language is based on the close connection between image and word: movie projection among a lesson is correlated with the presentation of dialogues recorded on tape. The didactic project of the method consists of distinguishing several stages (sometimes called moments of a language lesson). All these are built around the image-word connection and have clearly stated communicative aims. The most aimed at objective is learning communication, especially the oral one, in the every day language, that is the familiar spoken language.
