Abstract

In a largely male-dominated 20th-century European trade union world, Dolores Ibárruri and Martha Desrumaux distinguished themselves through their militancy and openly claimed political commitment. The speeches they gave, mainly in 1936, to raise awareness in their different countries and throughout the world show that both contemporary women are role models for everyone in education. Through a historical perspective and an analysis of some speeches given by both women in 1936, this study aims to show how the political commitment of these contemporary protagonists promotes equality, represents the diversity of their lives and makes them role models.
