Les pratiques langagières des jeunes dans la société chypriote contemporaine
Abstract
In recent years, we have observed a continuing trend among young people to use their own code of communication. Three main objectives were pursued in this survey: to analyse young people's everyday language practices; to understand the impact of new technologies and social networks on the use of the Cypriot dialect; and to analyse young people's perceptions of their language and dialect. The results of this research show that young people's language is a means of communication between friends to affirm their identity. In addition, social networks play an important role in the use of new words and expressions. As far as the Cypriot dialect is concerned, its use occupies an important place in young people's construction of their cultural identity.
