Abstract

This article studies how racial discrimination is expressed in Marie Ndiaye's novels « En famille » and «Mon cœur à l'étroit ». In the context of globalization marked by intercultural contacts, different peoples are forced to live on the same territory. But, their social relationships are expressed in terms of their social status, which, in turn, is influenced by economic factors and the history of the peoples in contact. Some feel a superiority complex towards others and are even pleased with rejecting them from their society. Thus, in the Francophone, colonial or post-colonial literature, the problem of discrimination can be observed in several forms. These depend on the reference societies of the writers and the mentalities of the inhabitants of these societies. This theme questions the adherence to the society and the artists propose the way of transcending the difficulties that their novels put in evidence. The writers resort there in order to show their position opposite this topic and their worldview. It is in this logic that would enroll the novels of the corpus.
