Abstract

Young people in the suburbs need to create their own language to symbolically resist the exclusionary relationships maintained against them (social violence, discrimination, racism, exclusion). In addition, we can understand that young people from socio-economically disadvantaged classes can find in a specific language a way to separate from their place of residence, to belong to a group and thus obtain a positive social identity. There is a group of people who believe that this language is a mark of identity, but there are other people who believe that this language is a driving force of discrimination. What is the relationship between this language of young people and the feeling of exclusion; how young people, through their codified language, challenge and experience this exclusion.
