Editorial policies

Peer review process

All manuscripts submitted to DIALOGOS undergo double-blind peer review. Before being sent to reviewers, manuscripts are anonymised by the editorial office. The editor-in-chief assigns each manuscript to two independent reviewers, ensuring their competence and the absence of any conflict of interest. Reviewers specialise in the language and the field of the articles they examine. They may decline a review where they lack the required expertise, or where a conflict of interest is liable to compromise their impartiality.

Reviewer reports are communicated anonymously to the authors, so that they may revise their manuscript where appropriate. The average review period is six to eight weeks. Reviewers are not paid for this work.

The final decision on publication rests with the Editorial Board. An author may appeal against it by writing to the editorial office. The appeal is examined by the honorary editor-in-chief, who takes part neither in the review nor in the original decision, and receives a reasoned reply.

Publication ethics

DIALOGOS adheres to the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies international best practice in research integrity.

Editorial decisions rest solely on the scholarly quality, originality, relevance and ethical compliance of the manuscripts. The journal is committed to safeguarding the impartiality of the editorial process, to preventing any form of plagiarism, falsification or fabrication of data, to protecting copyright and intellectual property, and to preserving the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.

Manuscripts by members of the editorial bodies or by authors affiliated with the publishing institution undergo the same double-blind peer review as any other submission. The member concerned takes no part in any decision relating to their own manuscript.

Conflicts of interest

Authors, reviewers and members of the Editorial Board are required to declare any conflict of interest liable to influence the editorial process or the scholarly assessment of a manuscript.

Where a conflict of interest is identified, the journal takes the appropriate measures to safeguard the independence, impartiality and transparency of the editorial procedure.

Authorship

Authors are those who have written the manuscript and approved the version submitted for publication. The list and order of authors are agreed upon before submission. Any subsequent change requires the agreement of all authors and the approval of the editor-in-chief.

Authors are solely responsible for the content and accuracy of their articles.

Plagiarism policy

Before any editorial decision, all manuscripts are checked with the similarity-detection software of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Sistemantiplagiat.ro. The software measures textual overlap; it does not establish plagiarism, which remains an editorial judgement.

Where the similarity report raises matters requiring clarification or correction, authors are invited to revise their manuscript before a further check.

Any manuscript found to contain plagiarism, or any other serious breach of research integrity, is rejected.

Generative artificial intelligence

The policy of DIALOGOS follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) position on AI tools. Any substantial use of a generative AI tool must be declared at submission and stated in the manuscript, specifying the tool used and how it was used. Corrections limited to spelling, grammar or formatting require no declaration.

An artificial intelligence tool cannot be listed as an author: it can neither approve the submitted version nor be accountable for the content.

Authors remain responsible for the references and for compliance with copyright.

For reasons of confidentiality, reviewers and members of the Editorial Board must not upload submitted manuscripts to generative AI tools.

Corrections and retractions

Where a significant error or a breach of research integrity comes to light after publication, DIALOGOS applies the procedures recommended by COPE and publishes, as the case may be, a correction (corrigendum), an expression of concern or a retraction.

Data protection

Personal data sent to DIALOGOS is used solely for editorial purposes and is not disclosed to third parties, except where required by law.
