Offering manifold literary examples, the author of this article debates on the human condition. It is a well-known phenomenon that most people find life too demanding to fit in, although the so much-wanted freedom of thought has long been acquired. Feelings of insignificancy, lack of faith, self-confidence and prospects, the feeling that a fault lies within ourselves, and loneliness are recurrent emotions to be found in contemporary characters. This paper is an appeal that recommends modern individuals not to continue to be immature, frail and idle, but to prove moral strength, as life is but a challenge.
