Motivations des étudiants chypriotes dans l'apprentissage de la langue-culture française

In an ever-changing economic and social environment, where all the Member States of the European Union are part of a multinational network, knowledge of foreign languages and cultures is essential. In Cyprus, French is compulsory in secondary education, but its learning remains, in the long run, a necessity or a choice. This research analyses Cypriot students' motivations for learning French through a questionnaire-based survey of 140 students at the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology. The aim here is to provide an overview of the issues and characteristics of learning French on the island.
