Lecturer at the University of Artois, Jan Goes gathered the academic lectures for bachelor and master degree in a book Initiation à la didactique du FLE, published at Sitech Publishing House, Craiova, 2004. In this review, we summarized the main points on French language teaching, analyzed by the author. The book is divided into 3 parts: the first one focuses on the key terms of the subject (school, class, textbook, education, student, etc), the second one provides examples and quotations and presents in detail basic topics of language teaching (such as how to teach grammar, vocabulary or culture, how to prepare for the class, the benefits of using media within the language class, whether to use or not the native language, how to help the students become autonomous or difficulties when teaching French for specific purposes), while the third section includes synthetic charts, diagrams and tables for the topics already discussed, analysis drills and different kinds of information.
