Résumé (en anglais)
Posture underlies awareness of the influence of several factors such as the environment, the cultural context and the perception of time and space. Our study becomes interdisciplinary bordering conversational analysis, sociology, kinetics and phonology. The paper focuses on the relationship established between body language and phonology and on the role played by the channels of communication in the identification of universals and culture-specific items. Our corpus includes literary texts and (social) questionnaires. The paper aims to raise awareness of the different meanings of one and the same gesture in different cultures.
