Résumé (en anglais)

This review aims to underline the strengths, but also the few weaknesses of a book whose importance has already been proved within the language teaching field. The course was highly appreciated for the solid theoretical basis of the first level of analysis, for the clear definitions and the historical perspective upon key concepts of this domain on the second level of analysis, for the concrete approaches presented on the third level, for the bibliographical charts inserted at the end of each chapter, but also for its full of information appendixes. The reproaches refer to the scarce remarks the methods for teaching a language on specific purposes, on the task based learning, on the compensatory strategies, etc.
