Abstract

Learning French as a foreign language (FLE) interests non-French-speaking learners for professional and educational reasons. It is a discipline whose pedagogical application takes place in Africa against a background of educational resources strongly marked by Western references. Although very rich and relevant for the didactic follow-up of non-French-speaking learners, the FLE books used in classes at the University Center for French Studies in Abidjan do not take into account the Ivorian realities. What induces a phase shift between the social environment and linguistic devices. It is this challenge that this reflection highlights. Better still, this study seeks to show a complementary path to those of the classic works of FLE. It provides proof that it is possible to learn FLE in Africa, with educational resources illustrating the daily African experience, and that its implementation significantly contributes to the progress of students.
