We try to identify the prototypic use of the connectors for the language of mathematics. With this intention, the comparison with the common language plays a decisive part. We try to identify the condition of uses and the effects of employment, from the descriptive, interpretative and explanatory point of view. Which are the constraints the connector imposes on the cotext and which is its contribution, namely its semantic contribution in the text? We leave the assumption that there is a reciprocal exchange of "information" between the connector and its linguistic environment. Our study is a textual linguistics one where the textual relations are explained by a dialectical connection between semantics (logic) and linguistics. The textual linguistics, applied to the field of mathematics, is based on a model of grammar having the following moments: diagram of thought, semantic system, metalanguage. Our analysis is centred on connectors, without neglecting their complex relationships to the co-text and the context. To highlight these complex relations, J. Drăghicescu distinguishes the articulators of sentence and the logical articulators of discourse.
