Representations of Cultural Mediation during Fieldresearch
Résumé (en anglais)
The present paper initiates a discussion regarding the roles of informants during fieldresearch, roles which can be found in several classical texts of English and French anthropology. Afterwards, it brings into discussion a field research done during 2007 – 2011, in Solotvino, a locality in transcarpathian Ukraine, and aims at investigating the ways in which the main subject of research plays different roles in relation to the researcher and her own community. Thus, the paper follows the subtle ways in which Marioara Deiac, former teacher in Solotvino, becomes not only a professional informant but a cultural mediator between her own community and the researchers' community.
